What You’ll Learn

- Regulations & Responsibilities – Understand relevant standards like CSA B335-15 and Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, along with employer and operator obligations.
- Reach Truck Anatomy & Controls – Explore lift truck mechanisms such as the mast, stabilizing outriggers, controls, and safety systems.
- Pre-Operation Inspection – Learn how to assess structural integrity, hydraulic function, battery levels or fuel systems, and safety devices before each shift.
- Load Handling & Stability – Grasp load limits, center of gravity principles, stability triangles, and safe high-reach operation in dense racking.
- Safe Maneuvering Techniques – Train on smooth starts/stops, controlled steering, neutral lifts, reversing, and negotiating narrow aisles.
- Operational Hazards & Pedestrian Safety – Develop spatial awareness and procedural safeguards to prevent collisions and maintain a secure environment.
- Proper Shutdown & Maintenance – Master equipment shutdown, battery recharge or refueling protocols, and basic upkeep.
- Evaluation & Certification – Pass a written exam and demonstrate practical competence to earn your certificate and wallet card.
